What Is Water Quality Testing?
Clean, reliable water is an important part of maintaining a healthy home. However, certain contaminants may be present in drinking water without noticeable changes in its appearance, taste, or odor.
At Spyglass Home Inspections, we offer professional water sample collection services with independent laboratory analysis to help homeowners and homebuyers better understand their property's water quality.
Water quality testing is particularly valuable for properties supplied by private wells, where routine water testing is generally the homeowner's responsibility.
Whether you're purchasing a home, evaluating an existing water supply, or fulfilling a lender's testing requirements, we offer several testing options to meet your needs.
Expanded Water Quality Analysis
A broader panel for selected water quality characteristics.
Testing may include:
• Bacterial indicators
• Selected metals and minerals
• pH, hardness and alkalinity
• Color and turbidity
Based on the specific laboratory panel
When Should You Consider Water Quality Testing?
Water quality testing may be beneficial when purchasing a property with a private well, investigating changes in water appearance or odor, or evaluating a water supply following flooding or other environmental concerns.
The Florida Department of Health recommends that private well owners test their water for bacteria and nitrates at least annually.
Important Testing Limitations
Water quality testing provides information about the specific substances evaluated in samples collected at a particular time.
Results do not guarantee that a water supply is free of all potential contaminants. Additional testing or professional evaluation may be appropriate depending on the property's water source and environmental conditions.
